How our regional economy strategies drive impact

Council has developed a suite of strategies to support the long-term growth and prosperity of the Central Coast.

Together, these strategies strengthen the delivery of the Community Strategic Plan by contributing to:

  • A resilient local economy that generates sustainable jobs, attracts investment and supports innovation.
  • Vibrant, inclusive communities that value identity, participation and connection.
  • Sustainable environments that protect that Central Coast’s natural assets and enhance liveability for future generations.

This coordinated approach ensures that our economic development is not pursued in isolation, but is integrated with social, cultural, environmental, infrastructure and planning priorities. It recognises that a thriving economy depends on vibrant communities, strong cultural identity, sustainable environmental and the infrastructure to support both growth and liveability.

  • The Central Coast's night-time economy is a dynamic and expanding sector, comprising more than 1,500 core businesses. Key night-time districts include Gosford, Terrigal, Wyong, The Entrance and the area from Umina to Ettalong.

The draft Economic Development Strategy 2026-2030 and Destination Management Plan 2026-2029 both highlight the importance of growing a vibrant night-time economy across our region.

To support ongoing growth and improve safety in the night-time economy, Council adopted the Central Coast Night-Time Economy Discussion Paper in April 2024. The Paper outlines 44 recommended actions to consider as we work towards creating safer, more lively and welcoming night-time spaces for our community, visitors and local businesses.
