Explore the beautiful forest of Katandra Reserve and learn about the incredible variety of fungi and it's importance for plants and animals.

Explore the beautiful bush tracks down in Katandra Reserve and learn how to identify the birds of the bush and rainforest.

Katandra Reserve is home to a wide variety of birds, from Powerful Owls to Noisy Pittas, scrubwrens and lyrebirds. Join Council's Environmental Education staff on this walk to identify and record local species for our Bioblitz and contribute to citizen science.

    You will learn:

    • tips and tricks to help identify different species of bird from their call, behaviour and plumage
    • which birds are residents and which are seasonal visitors
    • about the ecology of the species we see.

This walk will suit anyone interested in birds.

Bring binoculars if you have them, water and enclosed shoes. The walk will be approximately 3km return. The track may be steep and rocky in parts.

This activity is one of several for the Katandra Reserve Bioblitz.
