Gosford is transforming

About a year before Councillors retuned to the Central Coast, Council officers held a series of ‘Let’s Talk Gosford’ consultations after residents indicated they were keen to know more about the future of our CBD.

Plans for the Gosford Waterfront Renewal Framework had recently been discussed, and now people were interested in talking about other aspects of Gosford’s transformation, including parking, construction of the new library, improvements to open spaces and how more jobs, homes and economic opportunities would emerge over time.

Since our new Council was elected, we’ve honoured our community’s wishes to work on advancing Gosford.

We’ve consulted residents and businesses about how we can improve car parking.

We’ve delivered a new regional library and formed a review committee to look at options for the old one.

People have had their say on upgrades to Gosford Leagues Club Park and we’re in the early stages of developing a Landscape Masterplan for Gosford Memorial Park, Rotary Park and the adjoining reserve along Dane Drive.

And we have much to get excited about.

We’re seeing great confidence expressed in Gosford City through the construction of exciting new lifestyle precincts like The Waterfront and Voco, with more on the way.

World-class educational opportunities are being offered through TAFE and the University of Newcastle’s Central Coast campus and plans to introduce student accommodation will add even more life to our city.

And key stakeholders and residents will soon come together to help guide the implementation of a ‘Special Entertainment Precinct’ trial, which has the potential to bring new social and entertainment opportunities to our CBD.

We’re now working hard on forming strategic partnerships to fast-track the delivery of projects that will renew our city centre, especially the waterfront, and we understand that this key community priority will help to realise Gosford’s potential.

The NSW Government’s Central Coast Regional Plan 2041 identifies Gosford City as a regionally significant growth area. By working together, we’re creating a highly liveable city that can accommodate our growth and deliver a bright and prosperous future.
