Development Applications
Whether it’s a major project, a new house, or an extension, you need to know the rules if you are going to build on your property.

Do I need a development application?
A Development Application (DA) is an application for development that requires consent under the NSW Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 (EP&A Act).
If your development project doesn’t meet the rules for Exempt Development or Complying Development you will need to lodge a DA with us to obtain approval (also known as development consent).
To obtain development consent, lodge your DA with us via the NSW Planning Portal.
If construction works are a part of your development, you will need a Construction Certificate. You can apply for a Construction Certificate at the same time as your DA or after the DA has been approved.
