10/06/2019Did you know only nine per cent of all plastic ever made has likely been recycled? To help our residents reduce their reliance on single use plastics we have provided 2,500 reusable shopping trolley bags that can be collected for free!
In Australia, around 200,000 plastic bags are dumped in landfill every hour - by bringing your reusable trolley bags with you when you shop you are helping minimise the amount of waste generated and therefore sent to landfill.
This initiative helps us work towards our current targets as outlined in our Operational Plan to divert more than 45 percent of domestic waste from our landfill sites each year.
We are committed to continuing to provide innovative measures to help reduce the amount of waste that is sent to landfill and are right now developing our first Waste Management Strategy for the Central Coast! Find out more at yourvoiceourcoast.com/our-coast-our-waste/
