Mowing

We maintain over 3,000 outdoor public areas, keeping our community safe, clean and green.

Mowing schedule and service level standards

Central Coast Council proactively manages the majority of mowing activities according to the programmed work
schedule below:

  • Parks and reserves: Maintained every three (3) weeks during warmer months and every five (5) weeks during cooler months
  • Sports field playing surfaces: Maintained weekly
  • Sports field surrounds: Maintained every four (4) weeks. And every five (5) weeks during cooler months
  • Roadside vegetation areas (including laneways): Maintained every thirteen (13) weeks
  • Rural roadside mowing: Conducted biannually based on priority
  • Residential footpaths: Council does not undertake mowing of residential footpaths or nature strips situated in front of private property for amenity purposes.

Factors affecting service delivery

While Council endeavours to consistently adhere to the outlined work schedules, various mitigating factors may impact the timely completion of maintenance activities. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Adverse wet weather and storm events
  • Prolonged dry weather and drought conditions
  • Unforeseen machinery failures
  • Limitations in available resources
  • Prioritisation of works based on safety concerns
  • Environmental considerations.

In the event that a scheduled service is missed, we will make every effort to ensure the same scheduled service is not missed consecutively.  We will assess the need for attention prior to the next scheduled service with priority on safety, and community use above aesthetic needs.
